1801 is where the Smith family’s story was built, tested, broken, and rebuilt again.
Twenty years ago, on Christmas morning in 2005, while we were opening presents, our home caught on fire. In a moment, everything changed. What was supposed to be a day of joy became a day that reshaped our lives forever. But even in that loss, what remained was something unbreakable — family, resilience, and love.
After that fire, my mother Bertha Smith is the foundation of our home. She raised me and my little brother with strength, discipline, and unconditional care. She taught us what it meant to endure, to rebuild, and to keep moving forward even when life doesn’t give you a blueprint. The values she instilled in us still live in everything I create today.
Years later, in 2014, after going through one of the hardest periods of my life, I made the decision to rebuild House 1801. The process was long, emotional, and not easy — but it mattered. I rebuilt that home so my mother could move back in and finally feel peace in the place she worked so hard to pay for. A home she deserved to rest in. A home that held our history.
That act of rebuilding wasn’t just about walls and floors — it was about restoring dignity, pride, and legacy.
That is where 1801 Beauty was born.
